The Raid Review

So here we go again with another review but this time it's The Raid.

It's been a short while so let's start with the storyline which as usual will be taken from IMDB.

In the Jakarta slums, a derelict apartment building has become a no-go area - even the police are unwilling to enter. It has become a safe-house for the most dangerous killers and gangsters. A SWAT team infiltrate the building, under the cover of darkness, to remove its owner - a notorious drug lord named Tama. Written by Kad

Now that we have a vague yet accurate storyline with no spoilers it's safe to say I won't ruin it for anyone. I'm going to cut straight to the point I absolutely love this film, it's beaten all of my expectations to say the least, I will even say it completely smashed them to nanocrystals leaving myself thinking I could watch that over and over again without getting bored of it.

The film itself is in Indonesian so if you have a short attention span or just into checking your mobile every 5 mins this movie isn't for you clearly.

The action was perfect, the acting was superb in short; I think I have a new favourite film for this year.

Avengers Assemble review- My first Imax experience

Sometimes you need to have a goodnight sleep before you know how you feel about something.

However for this movie i didn't and in short I loved it.

The Imax Experience

As you can tell from the title it was the first time i saw a film in the Imax format,I could instantly tell it would be a greater experience let me tell you why:

  1. The screen was curved so you could see the whole picture
  2. The image quality seemed to be greater
  3. The 3D depth of field was phenomenal especially on the Men in black trailer
  4. The sound seems to be better distributed

A small issue i did have was it appeared that one of the speaker did possibly dysfunction as i could hear an occasional popping sound.

Other than that I loved the whole experience

Now on to why we are here well what i hope we are here for:

Avengers Assemble Review

Now where do we start, with the heroes, the villian ,the story or how I feel.

I think i should start with the plot which i'm just going to copy from IMDB as usual.

Nick Fury is director of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency. The agency is a who's who of Marvel Super Heroes, with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When global security is threatened by Loki and his cohorts, Nick Fury and his team will need all their powers to save the world from disaster.Written by WellardRockard

Thank you IMDB.

Now without getting sidetracked I want to tell you guys and girls (I can't be sexist can I?) Why this isn't what you would expect.

If you came into the cinema with the mindset that the film would be the normal the good guys come together and whoops the bad guys AKA the same old same.

You would be kind of right but this contains major screw ups , a little bit of slapstick comedy and what film won't be complete with Samuel L Jackson doing what he does best ; be angry.

I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it but i will say this, expect the unexpected.

For the characters we have an all star cast which I will provide a link to IMDB for you (as you can see I love IMDB)

IMDB link

So far i've talked abnout the plot and briefly touched on the charactors and now for the conclusion.

Final Thoughts

Almost after 24 hours after watching the movie I have came to the conclusion I absolutely love it. Why do I say this you may ask while looking confused wondering why you are here I shall tell you to ease your axiety.

I can't flaw the movie and believe me I have tried .

9 Out Of 10

The only downfall would be the replay value.

The Cabin in the Woods review

Hello guys and girls today I went to the cinema and yes you guessed it, I watched The Cabin in the Woods.

Initially I didn't want to see the film, as the trailer led to me believe it would be another film about teenagers going into a house and being killed in a brutal manner.

But to my surprise there was much more to it, the best way to think about is to think of the evil dead in modern times with someone pulling the strings.

The audio levels were excellent along with the acting (which is rare for your ordinary horror flick)

The story line was something your custom to nowadays, therefore you believe you wouldn't be surprised, you couldn't be more wrong  ; heres an extract from IMDB telling us what the story line is.

If you don't want to see the storyline I would recommend you close your laptop cover and pretend this doesn't exist.

an industrial facility, two technicians are preparing for their day on an unknown operation. Meanwhile, five friends are preparing for their trip to a remote cabin owned by Kurt's cousin. On the way, they stop for gas and have an encounter with the strange local who owns the gas station. While drinking and relaxing at the cabin, they discover a basement filled with interesting artifacts. Written by Kad

OK perhaps I exaggerated a little , now back to the review.

The film was shot and directed in the norm of horror films except for the last 20 minutes which separates the movie from the rest (which i personally loved)

Now the characters are a mixed bag for more info on the characters I recommend you go on IMDB

So what did I like , well lets see

  1. The story line
  2. The acting
  3. The way it's directed
  4. The mix of characters
  5. Some parts made me jump

What I didn't like

  1. The movie does get a bit random
  2. Some scenes were laughable (If you see the film you'll know what i mean)
  3. It was a 15 which didn't allow the movie to have anything extra gory in it.

So there's my quick review on the film, no spoilers but a nice short review.

Rating 8/10

Quick side note the stoner in the film looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo(the guy on the right hand side).
